Participation of the Institute’s scientists in the International Forums ‘Dairy Farm’ and ‘Pig Complex’

 

 

Scientists of the Institute took part in two International Veterinary Forums “Dairy Farm” and “Pig Complex”, which took place in Lviv on 20-21 March. Yurii Kosenko, Deputy Director for International Cooperation and European Scientific Integration, Doctor of Biological Sciences, and Oksana Brezvyn, Scientific Secretary of the Institute, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, gave presentations on changes in veterinary legislation and the fight against mycotoxicosis.

The Pig Complex Forum was also attended by Iryna Mazur, Deputy Director for Research, PhD in Vet., and Mykola Verkholiuk, Head of the Agency for Veterinary Medicines and Feed Additives, PhD in Vet. Associate Professor. This event provided each veterinarian with valuable professional information aimed at improving animal health, efficiency of animal husbandry and profitability of the farm. The topics discussed by the speakers were relevant and widely applicable in practice. They included disease prevention, maintaining a high immune status in animals, effective methods of preventing stress in animals, high quality vaccination and hygiene of premises. The speakers paid special attention to the prevention of pathologies of the reproductive organs, treatment regimens to combat infectious diseases, experiences in reducing the culling of young animals and protecting the farm from veterinary pathologies. The Forum also discussed the selection of antibacterial drugs, the correct diagnosis of infectious diseases, and pathological examination and differential diagnosis.

 

Meeting of the Methodological Commission of the State Scientific-Research Control Institute of Veterinary Medicinal Products and Feed Additives

07.03.2024 A meeting of the Methodological Commission of the State Scientific-Research Control Institute of Veterinary Medicinal Products and Feed Additives was held under the chairmanship of the Acting Director of the Institute, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor Volodymyr Stybel, and the Deputy Director for Scientific Work, PhD in Vet., Iryna Mazur.

During the meeting, the work programmes and schedules of the laboratories of the Institute in 2024 were reviewed. In particular, Orest Vezdenko, Deputy Head of the Agency for Veterinary Drugs and Feed Additives, PhD in Chemistry Mariana Rydchuk, Head of the Laboratory for High Performance Liquid Chromatography, PhD in Biology Roman Ostapiv, Head of the Laboratory for Control of Feed Additives and Premixes, PhD in Vet. Halyna Ryvak, Head of the Laboratory for Bacteriological Control of Quality and Safety of Veterinary Preparations, Dr. Ihor Kushnir, Head of the Laboratory for Clinical and Biological Research, PhD in Biology, Oksana Pyatnychko, Head of the Laboratory of Pharmacology and Toxicology, PhD in Vet., Ihor Paterega, Head of the Laboratory of Control of Chemotherapeutic Drugs, PhD in Agriculture Taras Stetsko.

The meeting took place in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Almost every report provoked active discussion among colleagues. In particular, Dr. Yuriy Kosenko, Deputy Director for International Cooperation and European Scientific Integration, shared ideas for establishing cooperation between the Institute and colleagues from EMA and EFSA.Dr. Dmytro Yanovych, Deputy Director for Scientific Support of the Testing Quality System,  made a number of sensible suggestions for implementing European approaches to research. Dr. Viktor Muzyka, Deputy Director for Information Work, outlined the most problematic aspects of planning clinical and toxicological trials.

At the end of the meeting, the Acting Director, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor Volodymyr Stybel, noted the high professional level of the staff of the Institute and expressed his sincere hope that, despite the difficult times the whole country is going through today, we will be able to keep the team together and once again confirm the image of the Institute as a unique professional scientific environment serving as a link between modern pharmaceutical science and business.

The 16th VICH Forum in Japan

Veterinary medicines experts from around the world gathered in Tokyo, Japan, to advance efforts to harmonise technical requirements for veterinary medicines through the progress of VICH activities.
