The Laboratory carries out research in two main areas: quality analysis of veterinary medicinal products submitted to the Institute for registration and re-registration in Ukraine and various studies of veterinary medicinal products, substances, premixes and feed additives under separate contracts (outside the registration process). The methods used are high performance liquid chromatography, capillary gas chromatography, pharmacopoeial chemical and physico-chemical methods. The laboratory is part of the testing centre of the State Scientific-Research Control Institute of Veterinary Medicinfl Products and Feed Additives, accredited according to DSTU ISO/IEC 17025-2019.
Chemical methods for quality control of drug parameters include: analysis of the presence of functional groups, identification of substances by chemical properties, production of colour derivatives, derivatisation, etc. Physicochemical methods of analysis include gravimetric (compounds of phosphorus, molybdenum, calcium, barium, iron, etc.), spectrophotometric (compounds that absorb light). ), spectrophotometric (compounds that absorb light in the UV range – direct spectrophotometry or indirect spectrophotometry after the formation of coloured derivatives, after the formation of coloured derivatives that absorb light in the visible spectrum), titrimetric (complexometric, acid-base, permanganate, bromate-bromide, nitrite, argentometric, iodometric and non-aqueous titration of substances).
The identification and quantification of the active ingredients of various groups of drugs (antibiotics, fat-soluble and water-soluble vitamins, antiparasitic agents, anti-inflammatory agents, rodenticides, disinfectants, hormones and amino acids) is carried out using high-performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, thin-layer chromatography and UV spectrophotometry.
The laboratory has developed and applies a quality management system for research on veterinary drugs and disinfectants, substances, premixtures and feed additives based on a combination of physical and chemical analytical methods with statistical processing of analytical results and electronic storage of research results.
A system for registering samples of veterinary medicines and test results has been introduced. Based on the development and modification of quality control methods for veterinary drugs, working instructions were prepared in accordance with the requirements of DSTU ISO/IEC 17025-2019.
